After Action Report 2011
Another fun filled year of gaming has past here are some of the highlights:
HAVOC 2011
Four members attended the convention with Richard running his Santo Domingo 1655 game, which turned out to be bloody! In the evening we went to a fish restaurant somewhere in the wilds of Maynard or Hudson that was excellent and finally to the Horseshoe Pub in Hudson for a few beers from their extensive selection.
Huzzah! 2011
A good crew attended the second Huzzah, Bill ran his Great War Game, Richard ran his Santo Domingo 1655 game and Red Coats in Saint -Domingue 1794 , Steve ran his Capture the Spy WWII game and Chris and Rich ran the Battle of Olustee 1864 using the Black powder rules from Warlord Games. In the Viking Dawn Game Chris won Best Painted leader and unit awards, Tony rampaged around the Saxon village and Steve managed burn a building down before removing the wench! Richard won the 1st Man in Rome Tournament hosted by Northern Conspiracy. Most of the club did really well on the raffles. Good to see our friend Mike from New Hampshire too. A great time was had by all definitely going again in 2012.
Historicon 2011
This year was held in Valley Forge again and we had a great time again running Red Coats in Saint -Domingue 1794 and Battle of Olustee 1864. The club picked up its third PELA award for the Battle of Olustee , the game ran twice with the first game being a Union victory!
Game Day 2011
We had around 50 gamers over the day with 11 games run 7 in the morning 3 in the afternoon and 1 in the evening. The number of gamers declined over the day something about a Hurricane on the way!
Prizes were awarded for the morning and afternoon sessions. In the morning 1st place went to Rob Walter and Rich Piccini with The Little Bighorn, June 25th, 1876 great looking game each player received a t shirt with their commander on it. Custer was eliminated and so was the Village. 2nd Place when to Chris Penney with help from Dean Emmerson for Wherever Bugles are blown North West Frontier Alec was gunning up the natives with his Gurkha Troops. 3rd Place went to Steve White for the Capture the Spy game where Matt and Little Chris hammered away at each other. Other games in the morning were Derek Dunn's Spitfire vs. Spitfire, on Fire! a great Check Your 6 game in 1949 with an odd collection of aircraft on both sides many the same so it came down to piloting skill at least that what I came after shooting down two of Tony's aircraft. Kurt ran AK-47 Republic with the French Foreign Legion being chased by a zombie horde while the locals cased more trouble, Alan had a great time. Bill picked up some late arrivals that seem to thoroughly enjoy the western front of his game Not so quite on the Western Front.
A special award was presented to Mike Pain for his Zombie Revenge on the Road to Hanghai, never sure quite what was going on there but he had a large group of all ages enthralled.
In the Afternoon we lost a number of gamers so we ran three games David won 1st place for his Anglo Dutch War in New England 1650 with Dutch, English, Mohawks and Mohegans fighting it out in the woods and fields of southern New England . 2nd was Jim's Battle of Bukoba June, 1915 with the Germans sinking one of the British boats then gunning up the saviors in the water! 3rd place went to Steve and Peter for Caldero 1805.
In the evening Olustee was battled out with some crazy dice rolling one Confederate Brigade (nearly half the army) failed to pass a single command roll for the entire game.
A great success
Three new members have joined up this year and jumped in with both feet Mike has a PBI Japanese Force painted up, Rob has PBI US Marines painted and is working some Napoleonic British, and Bill has been running games at conventions, producing terrain and has Both World War One and World War Two Armies.
The Dark Age Campaign has faltered a little but we hope to get it up and running again soon.
